World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can boost the value of armors, weapons and rings. Upgrades also boost bonuses like Crit chance and PvE Damage.

If the weapon's upgrade template ends in %, it will gain 3percent of its previous attack damage every time it's upgraded.

The cost of upgrading an item increases as it reaches the item's current level. The cost rises with item's level.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be put into weapons, armor, and trinkets to give an additional stat boost or impact while they're being used. They can be obtained by crafting, buying from vendors, trading or looting. Some upgrades have special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into equipment that has a slot for them. The item must be at least upgraded to the blue level for a component to be inserted. Unlike other mods, upgrade components can only be used once and can't be used multiple times or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a particular kind of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet ascended or legendary equipment, as well as some of the back items that are not ascending. Infusions and enrichments are recovered by salvaging gear that is ascended or completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade may have a prefix or suffix, modifying the name of the item to which it is used (for instancethe 'Canthan Armor Insignia" becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, allowing players to create stronger versions using fewer Upgrade crystals than they would need to reach the same level using normal methods.

A 'boost upgrade' can modify the attack or defense properties of a weapon, or armor. These upgrades can be crafted from the Portative Forging Station once the player completes the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanic. These upgrades can be purchased by purchasing them in the cash shop or by getting them from enemies while upgrading other gear.

Each upgrade increases the likelihood that a higher-tier version of the item will be revealed in the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to continue upgrading their gear even if they're not sure of the extent to which it will improve following a subsequent reset.

The boost upgrade may be successful or not, the process could be expensive, and there is a substantial possibility that the item will be obsolete or even break if it fails; a failed upgrade will destroy the Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. This is alleviated by the availability cash shop items that double or even eliminate possibility of failure, as well as some upgrades that provide the benefit of being reinserted into an item.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade elements that can be placed in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs increase the effectiveness of all nodes in the area around them as well as existing affixes on equipment. Each Glyph has a particular range of values it can improve a statistic by, and the value is displayed when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can choose to replace it with a different Glyph of the same rank or a higher rank, which will boost the overall value of the Glyph.

Glyphs can be found in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of a Gem Store bundle or purchase the glyphs with certain tools that allow unlimited use, and during Faction Crypt Raids. Each Faction Crypt can drop one of these Glyphs. There are some rare glyphs which you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs you will require them to be placed on your gear. Each Glyph unlocks a special bonus which will boost a specific set of stat nodes in a radius surrounding the Glyph. Based on the Glyph it could be +40 to one of your primary stats or +25 to two of your secondary stats.

The use of the Glyph will boost all nodes that are connected to it, so it is recommended to position your Glyphs near key nodes on the Graph to maximise the impact. For instance that a Druid should try to place their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes but also consider placing them near critical damage nodes too.

Leveling

The upgrade system for items allows players to increase the power of certain items by introducing upgraded components. This is known as "upping". Each upgradeable item comes with a level that determines its final upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be upgraded up to a maximum level of 385 ilvl. Each item level requires a different amount of components and the cost of upgrading increase as the item is upgraded.

Some upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained from finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or bought from NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed earns several Technology Points. These points can be used to upgrade the item, and when enough points have been earned, the upgrade can be claimed and the additional bonuses will be added to the item.

When the player upgrades an item to a higher level, the original item upgrader mod is replaced with a new item of the same kind. The same armor will be upgraded to the form of a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item also has its own set of bonuses. This could be a drawback, as the Best item upgrader can be more expensive even if you do not require it.

This will cause the item to be traded for a new one, which will have a level 1 base and a completely different set of bonuses. This can be useful for certain items, however it shouldn't be repeated often, as it could waste lots of resources.

Some upgrades can increase their value and allow players to modify their equipment. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it gives a buff if the player continuously enters or leaves the water. This item can be upgraded several times, increasing the maximum roll every time by 10 increments. This item is extremely valuable in PvP, as an item that is properly rolled it can be worth between 20 and 50x its value if it is not upgraded.

Requirements

The item upgrader allows players to increase the level of their equippable equipment (armor, weapons trinkets, and weapons) above ilvl 385 by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces also improve the strength of their base defense, while upgrades to weapon items increase their base damage and also increase their strength and dexterity.

All items can be upgraded up to five times, except for hero gear which can have eight upgrades. Each when you upgrade an item it has a chance to fail--the failure rate increases the more you go beyond the maximum number of upgrades. Failures can result in the item reverting to its original state, which requires the player to spend additional materials than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum amount.

If an item is not able to upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. The item will also lose any bonuses it gained, such as crit chance damage to attack, additional effects (such as an increase in healing over time or reloading speed). The player will be able to use their weapon or armor after the failure.

When an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from lowest to the highest. This means that, if a weapon gains an increase in the chance of crit the increase is applied prior to any increase in attack damage. Slots is a brand new attribute that was added to item definitions. The value is calculated every time an upgrade occurs.

The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is based on the rarity rating as well as the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium items is the same as the base value of the upgrade--for instance, a typical equipment item could have five upgrades, each costing 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance.
